WESTFIELDS stayed in touch with the leading group in the Hellenic Premier with a 2-0 home win over visiting Shrivenham.

Phil Glover's side had to work hard for their win as once again they were guilty of some poor finishing.

Harrison Summers and Dan Stoneman had great opportunities to open the scoring before Richard Greaves hit the post from close range.

Fields eventually broke the deadlock in the 35th minute when leading goal scorer Josh Hunt put Westfields ahead after Harrison Summers had headed the ball back across goal for Hunt to score.

After the break Shrivenham came more into the game and had a chance to draw level but Matt Apperley saved well with the visitors striker clean through on goal.

Westfields defended well to keep their slender lead before netting a second goal when the visitors keeper fumbled a Cawley Cox shot into the path of Jamie Bird.

Elsewhere in the Hellenic Premier, Hereford Lads Club suffered a 2-1 defeat at Bradford Town.

Meanwhile, Connor Bufton scored a hat-trick as Kington Town won 5-2 at Longlevens Development in the Division Two West.
