- The vocal point of the early Lads Club attack was Adam Hockey who saw his first effort saved and second deflected wide.
- Levi Ellis was next to have an opportunity but sent his volley over.
- At the other end Lewis Thompson saw an effort deflected wide for Lydney.
- Hockey did have the goalkeeper beaten on 19 minutes but not defender Liam Shepherd who cleared off the line.
- Goalkeeper Richard Thomas was next to deny Hockey with a fine save after the forward's effort from outside the box looked destined for the goal.
- Liam Jones went even closer on 27 minutes seeing his effort looped onto the crossbar.
- The opening game came after 29 minutes when Hockey fired his effort against the post only for James Hancocks to score the rebound.
- Nine minutes later Hancocks struck again turning to create space before sending his effort in off the post.
- However, Lydney pulled a goal back on 40 minutes with Morgan Pratt heading a free-kick home.
- Just 26 seconds into the second half Lads Club could have restored their two-goal lead with Ellis running through but firing over.
- At the other end Lydney could have been level after Bell palmed a dangerous cross down to Lewis Thompson who beat the goalkeeper with his effort but not Jamie Cuthbertson who cleared off the line.
- Moments later Hancocks could have had his hat-trick but saw his effort from outside the box sneak just wide.
- The finer moments of the tie could not have been more relevant on the 54th minute.
- At one end Lads Club goalkeeper Steve Bell denied Thompson who was through on goal.
- Seconds later at the other end Levi Ellis found the top corner of the net from outside the box with his strike.
- With a rare chance on 69 minutes Thompson hit the post for Lydney before Liam Jones cleared the rebound.
