HEREFORD manager Josh Gowling is hoping to bolster his squad with the addition of a loanee defender.

The manager said his side is a ‘working progress’ but needs to ‘quickly improve’ in the defensive area ahead of Saturday’s trip to York City.

“It’s clear we need another centre half to help Luke (Haines) or Ben (Pollock),” said Gowling.

“Then we are probably not conceding the goals we are at the moment. It’s been unfortunate we’ve not been able to bring in a centre half.

“We’d like to think over the next week or so we’ll get at least one loanee centre half. I’ve got some contacts with some decent clubs are there are players available.

“I’d like to think we’ll have something sorted before the weekend. We’ve been in dialogue with a couple of lads and have more discussions today (Thursday) and hopefully have something sorted by tomorrow (Friday).”
