THE husband and wife partnership of Doug and Marie Parry won the Herefordshire GC's latest Winter Mixed competition.

The Parrys triumphed in the 0-19 handicap section of a hard-fought contest involving 30 pairs.

The Parrys finished with a winning score of 42 points.

Cliff and Sue Mawby came second with 41 points, while Dick and Jane Tubman were third with 40 points.

The new pairing of Adam Herbert and Sarah Lawrence achieved an impressive 45-point haul to win the high handicap section.

Peter and Viv Griffiths secured second place with 40 points, while Harry and Jo Ellam were third with 39 points.

P Dean took the Division 1 medal with a nett score of 28 points in a December stableford competition.

A Irwin was the runner-up with a nett 24.

Gill Boase (26 nett) won the Division 2 medal, while Glenda Sandford finished second with a 24 nett.

H Sockett (21 nett) carried off the Division 3 medal, while R Rodick was the runner-up with a nett score of 20.

Sue Mawby picked up four trophies at Herefordshire GC's end-of-year awards.

Mawby was the winner of the ladies' club champion cup, Dorothy Johnson Trophy, Britton Cup and the Foursomes Cup.

Di Morris was named the most improved golfer of the year.

Around 70 ladies of Herefordshire Golf Club and their guests enjoyed the lunch at which the year's trophies were presented.

Annette Mansie took the Division 1 medal in Burghill Valley's December LGU medal combined competition.

Mansie finished with a winning score of 82-17-65.

Christine Baldwin was second with 87-15-72 and Lynda Vaughan was third with 97-19-78.

Vaughan played the full course and took the LGU Silver Spoon.

Mo Wilde (86-28-58) won the Division 2 medal from second-placed Carol Freeman (87-27-60) and third-placed Ann Saunders (92-25-67).

Jean Brookes secured the Division 3 medal after firing 96-31-65.

Jean Taylor (94-29-65) was second on a countback from third-placed Wendy Jones (98-31-67).

Julia Wilde, Amanda Marshall and Anne-Marie Van Pachterte won a prize at a nine-hole bowmaker competition at Ross-on-Wye.

The trio were the top scoring team for the front nine with 41 points.

Erica Atkins, Anne Bruckshaw and Jose Wilson were awarded a prize for being the top scoring team on the back nine with 39 points.

Atkins also collected the Turkey Trot prize for her 34 points in an earlier competition.

Chloe Ballard won a year's free golf membership after triumphing in a charity competition at Sapey.

Simon Brereton was second and L Glover was third in the event which raised £1,200 for Kidderminster & District Prostate Cancer Group.

Kate Hamilton, April Whetton and Wendy Dullam won the club's Christmas Capers Texas Scramble.

D Ashford was the top lady in the nine-hole captain's drive at Kington.

Ashford (43-7.5-33) finished ahead of second-placed L Hughes (53-16.5-36.5) and third-placed A Wilkes (44-7.5-36.5).
