MIKE Privett won a closely-contested captain's drive-in at Leominster Golf Club.

Privett won the 0-12 handicap section on a countback from Jeremy Lawrence after both players finished with 39 points.

Nigel Morris took third spot with 38 points.

Kevin Room (43 points) was the winner of the 13-18 section, while James Morgan came second with 40 points and Alan Room finished third with 39 points.

Colin Henshaw took top spot in the 19-28 section with 39 points.

Wayne Symonds was second with 38 points and Sam Morris finished third, also with 38 points.

Derek Langford, Guy Thompson and Ken Watson triumphed in a nine-hole Texas Scramble at the Leominster seniors' captain drive-in.

The trio came out on top with a nett score of 25 in a well-supported event for Bill Brown's captaincy.

Pete Sandall, Tony Pike and Andy Timmer finished in second place with a 25.7 nett.

Third place went to Ian Robertson, John Hinchliffe and Bill Harris who secured a 27.3 nett.

Pete James and Sean Pockett racked up 46 points to win the latest round of Belmont's Winter League.

Jim Harvey and John Mann were second with 46 points, while Chris Merriman and Luke Morris came third with 46 points.

Wref Digings, with 38 points, won the seniors' Winter League competition from Phil Skyrme, who totalled 37 points. Third-place went to Terry Thomas, who finished with 34 points.

Brandon Bowen won the Hurcombe Plate with a 38-point haul.

Mike Ingram secured second spot with 37 points, while Ray Ingram was third with 36 points.

Ken Shurmer was the winner of the stableford competition with 41 points.

Roger Smith, with 36 points, was second, and Eric Mayers was third with 36 points.

Pete James and Sean Pockett scored 45 points to win the previous round of Belmont's Winter League.

Richard and Nick Williams (43) were second and Stewart Thompson and Garry Tutty (42) third.

The club's Christmas Spirit competition, played by teams of four with two to count from handicap, found the winning quartet in supreme form.

The four of Steve Massey, Mark Tucker, David palmer and Ralph Kene notched 93 points to take the prize by the convincing margin of 12 points from Steve Hughes, Martin Dent, Derek Hancock and Harvey Hancock.

Also on 81 points in third place were Kevin Smith, Alan Smith, Keith Morris and Gareth Allen.

Angus Maclean's fine tally of 43 points won him Belmont Seniors' Don Round Goodwill Cup by four points from Roger Smith (39) with Paul Gosling (37) back in third.

Maclean was also placed in the aggregate pairs competition, teaming up with Wref Digings to return 64 points, clinching third place behind runners-up Eric Mayers and Colin Rowan (65) who were themselves three points adrift of winners Dennis Pritchard and Tom McHugh.

Philip Skyrme, 36 points, was the winner of the winter knock-out, two points clear of Peter Rouse.

In the Hurcombe Plate, Alan Morgan with 39 points took the top prize, three ahead of Bryan Goode on 36.

Norman Sockett, with 41 points, was the winner of the 0-17 handicap section in a competition at Herefordshire Seniors.

David Hankins finished second with 40 points, while Bryan Matthews was third with 37 points.

Peter Bingham won the 18 to 28 category, followed by Roger Wardle on 39 points and Frank Greatorex, 37 points.

Club secretary Glyn Wictome produced a winning score of 26 points in a 12-hole stableford competition held by Kington Seniors.

Another guest, club professional Andy Gealy, took second place with 25 points.

First of the seniors was Frank Goodwin, who picked up the Christmas Cracker Trophy with 25 points.

Terry Inskip took the Division 1 title in freezing conditions in the Seniors' Monday morning competition.

Inskip finished with 87-12-75, while Andy Edey secured second place with 92-10-82 in the field of 21.

Neil Warrington coped best with the difficult conditions to win Division 2 with 102-28-73, while Ken Canton took second spot with 99-23-76.

David Price won the nine-hole captain's drive after firing 31-4-27.

Ken Hill finished in second place with 39-9-30 and Nigel Venables took third spot with 39-9-30.

Gareth Jones and Terry Waite, with 43 points, won a Fourball Better Ball competition at Kington.

John Thomas and David Price took second spot with 40 points, while Glyn Wictome and Colin Mansell were third, also with 40 points.

Ian Cox, Bert Priday and Graham Priday, with 87 points, triumphed in the Team of 3 Stableford competition.

Alf Roberts, Gareth Jones and Marcel Veillet took second place, with 86 points, on a countback on the back nine.

John Thomas, David Price and Colin Mansell finished third with 86 points.

Brian Blower and Tony Edwards triumphed in the Burghill Valley Seniors' Betterball Pairs.

Blower and Edwards narrowly beat Guy Amos and Mike Hooper on a countback with 41 points.

George Davies and Wilf Jones took third place with 39 points.

Shaun Vivian won the December Stableford competition by six points from runner-up Dean Samuel.

Terry Robinson took third place on a countback after more than four players finished on 36 points.

Vivian, who has been club handicap and competition secretary, is the new club captain for 2008 and 2009.
