WESTFIELDS took the bragging rights and a second league win of the season after they overcame Hereford Lads Club 2-1.

Both sides served up a hard-working performance in front of the 294 spectators at the Herefordshire County Ground.

It was the visitors who pushed forward early in the tie and Harrison Summers saw his cross hit by Dan Stoneman but it crashed against the crossbar after a fine save from Steven Bell.

In front of a buoyant home crowd Lads Club responded and Adam Newbury blazed over.

Bell was forced into action again on the 30 minutes mark palming away a long rang effort.

After a goal-less first half the game opened up in Westfields’ favour when Stoneman put over a good cross which Josh Hunt got on the end of and headed fiercely goal-wards and whilst Bell got his hands to it the ball crossed the line to give Westfields the lead and Hunt his first goal of the season.

Westfields continued their momentum and Joe Davies saw his header rattle the crossbar.

Fields would then have a chance to increase their lead from the penalty spot when striker Summers was brought down in the Lads Club penalty area but Richard Greaves saw his penalty crash against the crossbar.

With 15 minutes remaining Lads Club almost punished the miss with Levi Ellis finding Cameron Peters inside the box, but headed over.

However, it was Westfields who doubled thei8r lead with Stoneman seeing his low shot deflected into the Lads Club goal by a defender.

Lads Club came back into the game and Sam Pearson wasted an opportunity.
With two minutes remaining Lads Club were rewarded for their endeavours and pulled a goal back from the penalty spot.

Harrison Summers fouled the Lads Club striker in the penalty area and Adam Newbury dispatched but Fields held on.
