HEREFORDSHIRE got their NCCA Western Division Two campaign off to a perfect start with a ten wickets win over an in experienced Devon side at Brockhampton.
Devon lost their last five second innings wickets for 11 runs in nine overs with Herefordshire captain Matt Pardoe taking five for 13 in 9.5 accurate overs with his left arm medium pace.
That left Herefordshire a target of just 49 and they cantered home with Pardoe, the former Worcestershire left-hander, leading the way with 28 not out.
An understrength Bromyard firsts travelled to old rivals Astwood Bank and came away with a 98 run defeat in the Worcestershire League.
The home side posted 258 all out in 49.5 overs despite fine spells from George Bouston (3-49 from 10 overs) and Rob Willis (3-53 from 10), and Bromyard could only reply with 160 all out in 45.1 overs, Ian Bullock top-scoring with 35.
Bromyard remain fourth in the WCL Premier Division ahead of a local derby at home to East Herefordshire rivals Colwall on Saturday.
Ross first cricket team maintained their challenge for the title of Marches League Division 1, and promotion to the Premier Division, with a close fought victory away over Luctonians seconds with opener Ali Cook hitting 74 on their way to posting 175.
