HEREFORD raised rugby player Josh McNally made his England Rugby debut on Sunday, helping an inexperienced England XV to a 43-29 win over USA.

McNally, playing as a lock, earned his first international cap from the start and was playing alongside four other Bath club team mates at Twickenham.

Eddie Jones’ men scored seven tries on the day but went behind early on when Luke Carty kicked a long penalty. From the restart though, Max Malins offloaded to Sam Underhill, who crossed the line for his maiden England try.

Ollie Lawrence and Joe Cokanasiga (2) crossed before half-time, giving England a commanding 26-3 lead at the break.

USA were fast out of the blocks in the second half, but McNally and his side saw home a rampant victory in an entertaining fixture.

McNally documented his dream of playing for the national set-up after his humble beginnings in Rugby.

“You have to take every opportunity as it comes. I have been in team camps before, but I feel a bit different now and I can try and push to make an imprint in this squad," said McNally.

"All I can do is try and get better this summer, grow my own game to hopefully help me out in the future.

“The end goal is to get an international cap. It’s not just given to you, so I’ve got to put a lot of hard work in this next few weeks.”

McNally grew up in Hereford, attending Aylestone High School and beginning his Rugby career at Luctonians.

However, it was while playing with the Royal Air Force that his career took off.

McNally will hope to feature against Canada next Saturday, with kick-off at 3pm from Twickenham.
