THREE Herefordshire clubs are battling for four promotion spots in the Hellenic League.

Hereford Lads Club, Hereford Pegasus and Wellington all remain in the promotion race in the Hellenic Division One West (step six of the non-league pyramid).

Brian King, CEO ulsport Hellenic League, confirmed that the top four sides will be promoted from the division this season into step-five of the pyramid.

Current leaders Pegasus head to seventh place Wellington this weekend with a two-point advantage over second place Malvern Town, but having played three games more.

Meanwhile, Lads Club are in sixth and just one point below the top four.

In the Hellenic Premier leaders Westfields know that to confirm promotion they will have to win the league.

However, if they are to finish second promotion could still be possible after already amassing 62 points from 24 matches.

King confirmed that: "In addition to the above, the remaining second placed clubs will be ranked on points per game, then goal difference, then goals scored if required, with the four highest placed clubs (across the country at non-league step five) also receiving automatic promotion.

"The remaining seven second placed club’s will take part in the step four and five play-off matches on a single match basis at the ground of the step four club they are drawn against.

"Where possible, the draw for the play-off matches will be regionalised. The winners of these step four and five play-off matches will be allocated to step four."

These play-off matches will take place on May 2 and May 3.
