CAPTAINS in the men's and women's sections at Ross Golf Club said farewell to the role.

Sally Lawrence completed her successful year as Lady Captain with a victory at the Lady Captain’s Last Gasp.

Over 60 ladies turned out to support Lawrence in her final competition.

Lawrence was part of the winning team including Sally Fycun, Mary Smith and Pat Johnson who accumulated a brilliant score of 85 points.

Runners up were Katie Stooke, Marcia MacFarlane, Sheila Curtis and Shan Powell with 82 points.

Lawrence chose the Multiple Sclerosis Society as her charity and over her year an impressive £4,729 has been raised.

Elsewhere, Ross Ladies members Pat Watkins and Denise Boughey successfully defended their Gross Pairs trophy at Bromsgrove in the Worcestershire and Herefordshire Pairs Competition.

The Ladies Bowmaker Competition was won by Pat Johnson, Lesley Ross and Sue Johnson with 67 points.

This year's seniors' captain Andy Baldwin and his vice captain Colin Price saw their term come to an end with a Gentlemen's Evening at the club's restaurant.

Guest speaker was Dr Philip Cleland while member Peter Hall showed his magician skills.

A few days later saw the installation of Colin Price as seniors captain for the next 12 months and Nigel Gibbs as vice captain.

They were installed at the Men's Seniors AGM and 16 holes Greensomes competition.

Price announced another new initiative for 2020, a second cup linked to the Winter Pairs League outcome and named in honour of his father John Price, a highly popular character during his memorable years at the Ross Club.

The day's winners in the Greensomes event were 2018 seniors' captain David Price and Richard Nightingale with 37 points followed by fellow prize-winners Steve Martin/Tim Lewis, Andy Petersen/Scott Thomson and Peter Jenkins/Charlie Walker.
