TWO goals in five minutes for Saul Thomas saw Wellington come from behind to take a 3-2 win at county rivals Hereford Pegasus

Unbeaten on their new 3G surface Pegasus looked to take control of the tie in the first half and Harry Waybourne fired them into a 21st minute lead with a curled effort.

Wellington had looked out of sorts until the 38th minute when they worked the ball from the back before Matty Williams finished.

A minute before the break Peggy regained the lead with Connor Davies-Austin scoring from the rebound following a corner.

Wellington, who had only lost once from their seven league games, replied after the break.

Thomas pulled his side back level on 63 minutes turning inside the box before firing home.

Five minutes later Thomas redirected Luke Griffiths' effort past the goalkeeper to make it 3-2.

Despite Pegasus searching for an equaliser in the last 22 minutes they were beaten.

"We did reasonably well, but didn't play very well in the first half," said Wellington manager Gary Stevens.

"It was a typical derby and it was a difficult game, both sides played very well.

"Their second goal came from a corner, I don't like to concede from corners so I was a bit upset by that, but they (Pegasus) deserved to be up at half-time as they played well.

"We were better in the second half and reorganised ourselves and made slight changes, nothing drastic or player wise we just adjusted one or two things.

"They kept coming at us and had a couple of chances to equalise but nothing serious.

"It was a local fixture, local derby and as long as we came out with the three points that's what mattered."

Wellington have got a tough run of fixtures in the coming weeks starting at Cheltenham Saracens on Tuesday night before hosting fellow challengers Thornbury Town on Saturday and then visiting Malmesbury Victoria the following week.

"They are all going to be tough games from now on," added Stevens.

"We have just got to keep the lads together and hopefully get one or two of our injured players back I think we will be okay.

"At the moment we have got a strong squad, if we can get our injuries back it will be an extremely strong squad."
