THE Herefordshire Golf Club cliched the Shropshire and Herefordshire Scratch League title for the third time in their history.

This prestigious event is contested by all major golf clubs around the county, consisting of the best players available to each team.

The 2019 final took place at Hill Valley GC against Ludlow GC, contested over 36 holes of singles match play.

Each side fielded four players over each round of 18 holes with four points to battle for.

The morning started slowly for the Herefordshire with the Ludlow players starting very fast and gaining a early advantage.

Devereux, Marshall and Radziejowski all found themselves trailing heading into the back nine with Lloyd the only player holding a advantage.

As the morning round progressed, the Herefordshire players all started to grind their way back into their matches.

Lloyd continued to increase his lead and eventually went on to a 5&4 victory to sure a point for his team.

This result gave Will an unbeaten season with eight wins from eight matches.

Youngster Radziejowski found himself all square with one hole to play and produced a moment of magic and birdied the tough 18th to win his match and earn his team a vital point meaning the overall score moving into the second round was level at 2-2.

Team managers Michael Bayliss and Steve Radziejowski reshuffled their order and squad for the task ahead.

With a revised team for the second round the matches got under way.

As the day progressed, Radziejowski continued his fine form to eventually go on to win his match 4&2 putting a early point on the board for his team.

Alex Allen and Kris Jones battled all the way to the finish line, eventually finishing with a draw in their match and sharing the point.

This left the Herefordshire in a excellent position to be crowned champions.

Devereux halved his match and with the scores at 4-3, this left the final point down to Marshall. After a strong season Marshall was not to be denied and rolled in a tricky six-foot putt to win his match 2&1 and secure victory.

Youngster Morgan Radziejowski was recently crowned Herefordshire 2019 Club Champion.

The competition was contested over 36 holes, in difficult wet and windy conditions.

The morning round leader Adrian Marshall set the early pace shooting a excellent 71, dropping two late shots while Radziejowski sat well off the pace with a first round 77.

The second round started with the wind even stronger than the morning, making play extremely difficult.

Radziejowski started fast picking up a shot at the first hole, however, a few dropped shots on the front nine left the youngster a couple over par. Will Lloyd shot a fantastic one under par on the front nine putting him firmly in the picture for the Championship.

It was at hole eight and 10 that the tournament took a massive turn.

Radziejowski made a birdie and first round leader Marshall got into trouble and carded an eight.

This set young gun Radziejowski into action eventually carding a four under par back nine, shooting an overall gross 69 for the second round. Marshall steadied the ship and shot a level par back nine but the damage had been done. Lloyd fell away leaving Radziejowski to hold his nerve and secure the victory.
