HEREFORD FC have signed 21-year-old midfielder Ben Pollock following a successful trial period.

Pollock has trained with the Bulls over the past month and featured in the recent behind-closed-doors training match against Stourbridge.

As a youth Pollock featured for Middlesbrough, Leeds United and Newcastle United academies.

He has gone on to play for Dunstone UTS and last season 37 times for Billingham Synthonia, in the Northern League Division Two.

“Ben is an intelligent, deep-lying midfielder who keeps the ball moving,” Hereford manager Russell Slade told the club’s website.

"He’s a continuity player who can be that link between the back-four and those players further forward, I’m sure he will do well for us.

“He’s impressed me during his short trial period, he’s fitted in well with the lads and he is someone who will add something to the squad that we haven’t really got at the moment.”

Pollock’s father Jamie played Premier League football for Middlesbrough, Bolton Wanderers and Manchester City.

His younger brother Mattie currently plays for League Two side Grimsby Town.

Pollock is available to play in tomorrow’s FA Cup tie at Tamworth.
