DEFENDER Kieran Thomas says that Hereford’s defensive display during their 2-0 win over Leamington was one of the best they had put in this season.

The Bulls kept their second clean sheet in a week following Saturday’s 1-0 win over Kettering Town.

“It’s very pleasing, good to get a clean as well and we dug out a win,” said Thomas.

“They (Leamington) started well, are effective at what they do and we defended well today. We feel pretty comfortable and today was brilliant and is probably the best we’ve played as a back four.

“We were solid and they didn’t really look like they were going to score so it was good.”

Speaking about the conditions the Bulls faced, Thomas added: “It was tough in the first half to get out of our own half to be honest with the goal kicks but in the second half we were much better.”

Peter Vincenti scored the opening goal and Thomas said he is a good addition to the side.

“It’s nice to look up and see him as an option and it’s good to have him there as he’s brilliant in the air,” added Thomas.

“Peter and (Josh) Gowling getting the goals which was quite good. It was good to get the goals and not concede tonight.”

Thomas made a vital goal-line clearance with 18 minutes left on the clock and the Bulls leading 2-0.

He added: “It was good, I just tried to get anything on it to stop it and luckily it didn’t go in the goal.

“I knew the winger was behind me so I just tried to get a head on it and luckily it went out for a corner.”

The Bulls play Tamworth on Saturday in the FA Cup and Thomas says that the squad want to continue their cup run.

“We want a cup run and everybody wants a cup run in the club,” added Thomas.

“Hopefully we can go there on Saturday, take a lot of fans and get the win. He (Russell Slade) just said he loves a cup run so hopefully we can give it to him”
