ALMOST perfect conditions met riders at the final Ledbury MCC Motorcycle Grass-Track racing event of the season.

Held on a new circuit at their regular venue of Sparrington Farm, Pencombe, near Bromyard, a big programme of 60 races entertained the crowd.

After a week of fairly unsettled weather, the rain stopped providing a surface for exciting action including thrills, spills and an abundance of close finishes with riders from all over the UK competing.

The entry list even include three recently crowned British Youth Grass Track Champions in Archie Rolph, Max Perry and Cameron Taylor.

Whilst both Rolph and Perry went on to record very impressive unbeaten and maximum points scoring performances in the respective Auto Cadets and Juniors classes, Taylor was second overall in the Intermediates.

The Ledbury event as usual catered for riders all ages and on both solo and sidecar machines.

And, during Sunday’s event there was also plenty of local interest with several earning podium places at the end of the day.

In the Cadets class young Jacob Phillips of Malvern took victory as did Stourport-on-Severn competitor Rob Fortune in the GT140.

Ledbury’s Martin Williams finished runner-up in the main 500cc Solo event, a feat copied by Neil Taylor of Tewkesbury in the 350cc Solos.
