WELLINGTON are preparing to face the unknown when they start their Hellenic League One West campaign this weekend.

Gary Stevens' side host Cotswolds-based side Bourton Rovers while Hereford Pegasus make the short trip to Newent Town and Lads Club visit Shortwood United.

"There is a lot of different places to play and we don't know much about their league," said Stevens.

"We have had a look at one or two teams but we can't find out a lot about the sides.

"We know a bit about Cheltenham Saracens as we played them in a friendly and they are reasonably close.

"We also know about Pegasus, Malvern and Lads Club but the other teams are unknown.

"We don't know the style of football played. At least in the West Midlands League we knew what we were going to get every week.

"The target we set out is to win our next game. We just want to win as many games as possible."

Welly's fixture against Bourton Rovers was reversed from an initial away one due to cricket being played on Cotswold side's pitch.

Wellington have had a positive pre-season campaign which concluded with a 3-3 draw against Longlevens on Saturday.

"I've been quite pleased with pre-season to be honest," added Stevens.

"We've played six games and only lost one which was against Hereford and we have either drawn or won the rest.

"The opposition towards the end has been a lot more difficult but we grew into it and a lot of players are doing what we asked of them.

"We've tried to give everybody game time and consequently you are going to draw or lose games you should have won with changing as many people.

"We have got a good squad and have strengthened all around really."
