TALENTED thrower Dylan Menhennet continued his rise with a gold medal at the English Schools National T&F Championships.
The national event is the most prestigious in the schools’ athletics diary and is the fourth largest athletics events in the world.
Menhennet was part of the Hereford and Worcestershire Schools team after being selected following performances in district, county and club competitions.
The John Kyrle High School pupil was competing in his second national schools championships.
On this occasion he won the Junior Boys Hammer title, with a “national standard” throw of 50.66 metres.
Charlotte Colbert, from St Mary’s RCHS, placed sixth in the Junior Girls Hammer.
Despite it being her first championships Colbert impressed with an “entry standard” throw of 41.65m, one of 11 athletes gaining this standard. Another Hereford athlete, Eva Tyler (Whitecross School) ran 26.07 seconds in the Junior Girls 200m, just missing out on a place in the next round.
