MATT James took a clear victory by over two minutes in this year's annual Gords 6 race through the Wye Valley.

The Hereford Couriers runner took the crown with a winning time of 46 minutes and seven seconds along with challenging 6.7-mile route.

The now well established race is hosted by Wye Valley Runners, starting from Fownhope runners race along the river though the Wye Valley.

The challenging course features 800 metres of ascent with a mix of grassland, woodland trails and a short section of road.

The family event, now takes place on a Friday evening and includes one and two-kilometre children's races.

The event is held in memory of Gordon Clements, who was a founding member of Wye Valley Runners.

James finished ahead of Wye Valley Runners pairing Joseph Williams and Richard Williams who were separated by five seconds at the finish with Richard just powering ahead.

In the women's race Holly Gourley of Ledbury & District Harriers claimed victory and 10th place overall in 53 minutes and 44 seconds.

Just 15 second behind was Wye Valley Runners member Jodie Newell in second.

Laura Tootell, also of Wye Valley Runners finished a close third.

Wye Valley Runners dominated the prizes, picking up both the men's and women's team prizes as well as four of the veteran prizes.

Veteran age group winners were: Stuart Taylor - Unattached (vet 40); Dan Sandford - Forest of Dean AC (vet 45); Nigel Taylor - Croft Ambrey RC (vet 50); David Williams - Hereford Couriers (vet 55); Peter Carwardine - Hereford Couriers (vet 60); Geoff Kay - Hereford Couriers (vet 65); Peter Smith - Wye Valley Runners (vet 70); Brian Symonds - Wye Valley Runners (vet 75).

The female veteran age group winners were: Melody Gaudin - Unattached (vet 35); Beckie Ansfield - Wye Valley Runners (vet 40); Helen Milner - Ledbury & District Harriers (vet 45); Kate Elkington - Ledbury & District Harriers (vet 50); Jan Edwards - Wye Valley Runners (vet 60).
