ROSS Golf Club's seniors captain Andy Baldwin was celebrating a success of his own recently when he became the third member to recently hit a 'hole in one'.

After celebrating the achievements of two seniors members who achieved the feat while they were playing in seniors events Baldwin saw his sweetly struck seven iron tee shot to the seventh green in his Trevor Lane 2nd round knock-out match take a few bounces before disappearing into darkness.

The club's men's seniors summer friendly matches have also involved success and after 10 matches of their section's 28 match programme there have been five wins, two draws and just three defeats.

Most attention though is likely to follow the fortunes of the Club's Men's 'A' Team as 2018 Division 1 winners of the North Glos Foursomes League with the squad now looked after by non playing Captain, Stephen Price and Vice-Captain Simon Mills.

It reflects well on all concerned that after three matches played resulting in two wins and a close defeat, the Ross team head the league table with a top of the table clash against 2nd placed local rivals Forest Hills GC eagerly awaited.

After three matches played resulting in a win, loss and draw sequence the Men's 'B' team are handily placed mid-table in their North Glos 'B' Team Division 1 League where a 4 Ball Better Ball format is the preference with Mark Whitmore their experienced team Captain again at the helm.

Whitmore was delighted to return home recently with a well earned 3-3 draw when his team visited the prestigious Minchinhampton Golf Club. Those to excel that day with Ross wins were Stephen Eckley/Kevin French 6/5, Colin Bennion/Nigel Evans 5/4 and Robin Smith/Ian Griffiths 1 up.

There are also places found in the club's programme for some social matches and the men members have to date played winning friendlies at home to Enville (4.5 to 1.5), Moseley (10-2) and a drawn 4-4 match with Stratford-Upon Avon with Enville members able to get their revenge with a 4.5 to 1.5 win when Ross were visitors.
