OVER 200 youngsters competed across a weekend on the Edgar Street pitch as the Herefordshire Junior Football League held their annual finals.

Some 18 teams took part in the finals ranging in age categories from under-eights to under-17s.

The finals were watched by record attendances over the weekend and was non-stop excitement with the added bonus of two games being settled by penalties.

Junior League secretary Diane Phillips said: “We are grateful as ever to Hereford FC for allowing us to use Edgar Street as our home for the finals.

"It is a thrill for all the players, not to mention their families and coaches. The pitch was in superb condition and a testimony to groundsman Ben Bowen and his team. It made for a great couple of days."

Leominster were crowned the winners of the under-eight Daniel Cooper Memorial Cup after beating Ross Juniors in the final.

In the under-nines Pegasus Juniors clinched the Hillmans Florist Cup after seeing off Ludlow Town.

Westfields clinched silverware in the under-10 category after beating Ross Juniors for the Mailes Cup.

Pegasus were again victors in the under-11 Tony Cole Cup after beating Ledbury Swifts.

Hereford City Sports won their first trophy in the under-12 Wyven Flooring Cup when they beat Lads Club Sharks.

Meanwhile, Presteigne Colts were winners of under-12 HGTA League.

Lads Club Scorpions secured a league and cup double in the under-13 category winning the HGTA League and Tudors Building Supplies Cup.

They beat Leominster Town Minors Colts in the Tudors Building Supplies Cup final while Pegasus Colts were runners-up HGTA League.

Ledbury Swifts were victors in the under-14 Dave Howes Cup beating Ludlow Town in the final.

There was an all Westfields final in the under-14 RS Signs and Engraving Cup with league winners Westfields Juniors suffering a cup defeat to their club counterparts.

In the under-15 category Woofferton beat Shropshire rivals Ludlow Town in the Stuart Sheehan Cup final.

While Fownhope did the double winning the HGTA League and Bill Bowkett Cup seeing off Bartestree in the cup final.

Bartestree Colts clinched the under-17 HGTA Cup while Westfields won the league.

Meanwhile Lads Club Terriers were beaten cup finalists and league runners-up.
