WORMELOW sent a message to their rivals in the GB Liners Marches league by taking an emphatic victory by 10 wickets in their opening match against Glangrwyney.

After moving down from the Worcestershire County League for this season Wormelow showed their quality with opening bowlers Ali Main (3-18) and Jordan Reading (1-14) stemming the visitors to 22 runs within the first 10 overs.

Skipper Tom Cutler helped to sweep the Glangrwyney middle order aside with four wickets with support from Ian Herbert (1-22) and spinner Dylan Baynham (1-13) leaving the visitors all out for 97 off 39.2 overs.

In response, unbeaten openers Matt Deem (23) and Luke Jones (68) made light work of the target and hardly looked in trouble as took victory within 15 overs.

Reigning Division One champions Luctonians lost early ground to their rivals after falling 10 runs short of their target against Builth Wells.

Lucs had looked in a good position with Builth struggling on 122-7 thanks to bowling figures of 2-38 for Imalka Kankanamalage and Pete Griffiths also taking two wickets.

However, Mike Williams held his bat for 47 runs before Griffiths took the final two weeks to bowl the visitors out for 195.

In response openers Duncan and James Platford put on an opening wicket stand of 60 and a steady 38 runs for Ian Probert helped his side to 153-6.

However, with two run outs in the lower order Luctonians fell 10 runs short of their target falling for 185 off 43.2 overs.

Elsewhere Stuart Griffiths took bowling figures of 3-16 as Garnons skittled Goodrich out for just 68, chasing a total of 136.

Kington were awarded their opening match against Abergavenny & Crickhowell after the opposition conceded and Strollers took a winning draw over Brockhampton 3rds.

Jonathan Jones’ century helped Dales to a high scoring winning draw in their Division Two clash against Woolhope.

Brad Davies hit an unbeaten 67 for the Leominster based side as they set a target of 242-8 off their 45 overs.

In response Woolhope fell just nine runs short of victory with Will Tanner hitting 113 of their 233 runs.
