HEREFORD Lads Club took local bragging rights as they took a convincing 4-1victory over an under-strength Wellington side on Bank Holiday Monday.

Welly battled to a 3-2 win at Shifnal Town just two days earlier but failed to repeat the effort at the County Ground.

Ashley Lear opened the scoring for Danny Moon's side after just 11 minutes before James Hancocks doubled their lead finishing off another quick move.

However, Welly pulled themselves back into the tie two minutes before the break when Joe Davies netted his header.

Paul Jones almost levelled the score for the visitors moments later but was denied by the crossbar.

Lads Club responded in the second half and Liam Jones restored their two-goal advantage.

Just after the hour former Welly player Adam Newbury sealed the points for his new side direct from a free-kick to make it 4-1.

The win secured Lads Club a seventh place finish going into their final game at Wem Town on Saturday while Wellington host Shifnal and Pegasus Juniors travel to Malvern Town.
