HEREFORD Lads Club Ladies provided a shock result as they sent title challengers TDMS FC Ladies to their first defeat of the season in the Midwest Counties Female League.
In what was a competitive game with TDMS not wanting to lose their unbeaten record or spoil their league ambitions it was Mel Mayo's goal which settled the tie.
For Lads Club it was a chance for revenge after TDMS would not reschedule their cup encounter when the Hereford side had two players taken away in ambulances resulting in a 1-0 defeat.
Visiting Lads Club played with passion and wanted to prove a point eventually sealing victory.
Lads Club's goalkeeper for the game Casey Ellis played her part and helped to ensure the victory with a clean sheet.
Hereford FC Women were also denied victory by a superb goalkeeping performance as Welland Ladies Firsts held them to a goal-less draw.
The host's goalkeeper Sophie Ross had a day to remember as she withstood a avalanche of attacks.
Even when Ross was beaten in the Welland goal luck was on her side as the woodwork was rattled three times and her team-mates twice cleared shots off the line to deny the visiting Bulls.
Elsewhere Bartestree Womens had an afternoon to forget after they suffered a 7-1 defeat at Wyre Forest Phoenix Ladies FC.
