KINGSTONE Rovers will meet Westfields in the semi-final of the Herefordshire FA County Challenge Cup following a convincing 3-0 victory over Ewyas Harold.

Rovers, who were only promoted to the Herefordshire Premier last season, are also in the semi-final of the HFA Charity Bowl.

It marks a four-year rise for Rovers from the bottom division of the county league to cup contenders.

"It was comfortable to be fair and we have been playing well in the last couple of weeks," said Kingstone manager Nick Panniers.

"A couple of years ago we were bottom of the leagues but we have got an experienced squad consisting of a lot of school mates all over 30 and one 18-year-old.

"So we all know each other very well and most of us played at Westfields' level six or seven years ago so we have the experience there.

"We came through the youth teams together and the only ones who don't play for us of that age group are Kane Khaki, Sam Gwynne and Craig Jones.

"Tiredness towards the end of the game will be a big factor as Westfields have got a big pitch.

"It's going to be tough as we're playing a good side who haven't got a game this weekend or that weekend and have players coming back from injury.

"They will have a lot of players who want games so will be virtually full strength."

In Kingstone's debut season in the competition they met last season's beaten semi-finalist Ewyas Harold last weekend.

After a close battle in the opening 30 minutes Matt Maturi continued his scoring form by netting the opening goal for Kingstone.

In the second half Rovers booked their semi-final place with Ashley Day and Dean Evans both scoring.

Kingstone have been in mixed league form this season winning six of their 12 fixtures and beating last season's runners-up Westfields Reserves 5-0 earlier in January.

"I always thought we would be mid-table but player availability has been a big struggle this year as we probably have one of the smallest squads signed on in the league," added Panniers.

"So we rely on everybody being available and before Christmas we travelled to Ledbury with 11 men so have dropped points.

"We could have been maybe 10 points better off than we are and I think we have the third best team in the league.

"We will give it another go next season and hopefully bring in a few younger players. "Kingstone is getting bigger and I hope people will want to come and play for us."
