LEDBURY RFC suffered a third defeat of the season as runaway league leaders Old Leamingtonians showed their power to come away with a 43-29 victory.

The visitors showed their form from the outset with winger Liam Wellings running over from the first scrummage before Ollie Sarginson found another gap for a second try.

The match degenerated somewhat due to unforced errors, but it was Leamingtonians winger Liam Wellings who extended the lead with a well taken try before Matt Hallett eventually got Ledbury on the scoreboard.

Leamingtonians continued to press and were rewarded with a final score in the first half for No 8 Hugh Melhuish.

Trailing 7-26 and playing up the slope in the second half Ledbury drew first blood when Hallett took his second try of the afternoon.

Cam Hunter then dotted the ball over when the Leamingtonians defence was found wanting before Ozzie Alexander squeezed over in the corner as Ledbury's revival brought them back to 26-24.

However, Leamingtonians' scrummage was still far too strong for Ledbury and they were able to muscle their way over for tries for Melhuish and Ben Perkins to put the match out of reach at 43-24.

With a late rally Ledbury had the last word with a final unconverted try for Hallett in the corner.
