FORMER Westfields and Pegasus striker Daryl Addis was sent off for the first time in his career - for urinating in public.

He was shown a red card by referee Colin Ward, halfway through English Bicknor's Northern Senior League Division Two match at home to Winchcombe Town.

Addis, who led the line for Fields in the Midlands Premier Division, is now the joint manager and his side went on to lose 4-3 without him on the pitch.

Match officials in Gloucestershire have been instructed to dismiss players, substitutes or club staff caught emptying their bladders in the open instead of using the available facilities, but Addis still feels the decision was harsh.

"It was unbelievable," Addis said. "I did my team talk at half-time and needed the toilet, so I went completely away from the pitch with nobody in sight and found a bush probably around 50 yards away.

"I came back and the referee sent me off.

"I have never been sent off before during a long career at a decent level of non-league football so when this happened, shocked isn't the word."
