BURGHILL Golf Club welcomed their new men's and women's captains into office with their Captain's Drive events.

Phillip Harrison's year in office got off to a great start, recording a drive of 277 yards on the first hole.

The Men's Captain's Drive event was well supported with 50 members joining him in a shot gun start.

The competition was played under a stableford format with Paul Moses the winner of Division One competition with 41 points and the winner for Division Two was Paul Bloise with 40 points.

One of Harrison's first roles as captain was to chair the AGM where it was announced that Kris Jones had won the Joe Cooke Club Championship, Andy Gaunt the Rabbits Cup and Andy Preece the Past Captains Trophy.

The captain's charity for his year is the CLD Trust (Counselling/ Learning/ Development). The trust provides specialist individual counselling and therapy for young people in Herefordshire aged between 10 and 25.

Issues dealt with include bullying, depression and all mental, social, emotional and behavioural concerns.

The Ladies' AGM and prize presentation took place on last week.

Heather Burley, outgoing captain, presented this year’s trophies to all the worthy winners. Burghill Valley has welcomed the new incoming Ladies' Captain Lyn Pollard with a Captain's Drive event last weekend.

Pollard's charity for her 2018/2019 year is the Alzheimers Society. This charity offers information and support about all aspects of living with dementia.
