HEREFORD Ladies Hockey Club continued to struggle in the Premier Division 2A of the Western Women’s Hockey League.
The Hereford Racecourse side suffered a fourth defeat of the season on Saturday but put up a spirited fight despite joint leaders Redlands taking a 4-0 victory.
The women’s second team had a tough test in the Severn Division 2 when they travelled to Cirencester 3rd and despite a battle fell to a 3-2 defeat.
In the same division Ross-on-Wye settled for a point in a close local derby match against Gloucester 4th which ended in a 3-3 stalemate.
Meanwhile Colwall and Malvern sit at the top of Severn Division 2 having won all four of their opening matches and beating Lansdown 2nd 1-0 on Saturday.
In Severn Division 1, Leominster saw their run of back-to-back victories ended by Gloucester 3rd who ran out 5-0 winners.
Presteigne Ladies remain unbeaten in the Premier 2 of the South Wales Women’s Hockey League following a 2-2 draw at Penarth Ladies 2nd.
The team got off to a strong start with Sioned Price and Jess Goodwin combining well to allow Goodwin to hit the back of the net.
With Penarth being awarded a penalty flick they soon made it one a piece.
Next it was the turn of young winger Frankie Jones to score a fine goal before half-time.
Presteigne battled hard in the second half to keep their lead but Penarth were able to find a second goal from a short corner.
Player of the match went to Donna Jones for her efforts in defence.
Similarly in Division 1, Kington are also unbeaten following a goalless draw at Milford Haven.
