WELLINGTON manager Gary Stevens has urged his side to stop conceding 'silly goals' and allowing teams a head start after coming back from two goals down to hold second place Black Country Rangers to a draw.

Despite a disastrous start to the season Stevens’ side are now six games unbeaten and the manager said they were 'brilliant' during Saturday's fightback.

Saturday’s visitors are unbeaten with nine wins and three draws and went ahead with a well worked goal after 21 minutes.

The visitors looked on their way to victory when they scored a second goal 10 minutes after the break.

However, Wellington responded with 13 minutes remaining when William Perkins’ free-kick flew into the bottom corner.

As Stevens side increased their pressure Rangers crumbled and went down to 10 men following a second bookable offence.

The comeback was complete two minutes from time when Nick Britton’s cross was headed home by George Hayes.

"They are a very good side and we had a few players missing and knew it was going to be really tough fixture anyway," said Stevens.

"The first goal was very good goal but there second was a bit lax on our part so we were a bit disappointed with that.

"When we go a goal down we just thought that we had been here before as the same has happened in our last three games.

"We are trying to overcome that and get a quicker start but unfortunately we keep giving away silly goals.

"We play some very good football but it looks like we want to allow the opposition a chance to score before showing our good football.

"Our players were absolutely brilliant and came back into the game. The more on top we got the more irritable they were and in the end a lack of discipline and our pressure did them.

"They started to crumble as we brought a goal back. When they went down to 10 men we were very much on the front foot and in actual fact went three at the back but couldn't quite get the winner.”

Sam Hunt started on his return to Wellington’s side on Saturday following late availability issues.

Wellington lost four of their first five games after struggling with player availability and Stevens said they are still having the same problems.

"We are going game to game and I keep telling our coaches that it's a long time from Saturday to Saturday," added Stevens.

"We lose players consistently which cost us games at the start. It's hard work trying to piece a team together when you keep losing players.

"We lost one player on Saturday morning this weekend so had to try and get another play in."
