TWO league wins in four days helped to change the mood at Westfields as they bounced back into the top three of the Midlands Football League Premier.

Westfields followed on from Saturday’s 4-1 home win over Shepshed Dynamo to record an second victory at AFC Wulfrunians on Tuesday night thanks to Ben Miller's 21st minute penalty.

Miller’s penalty came after Ben Hayes had been bundled over in the Wulfrunians penalty area.

Westfields put up a stubborn defence led by Sam Plane whilst goalkeeper Ian Havard dealt with everything confidently in the visitors’ goal.

Westfields were fortunate to take the lead early on when a penalty was given for hand-ball and Miller dispatched the ball low into the left-hand corner of the net.

Ben Hayes gratefully doubled their lead before the break after Jamie Molyneux saw his close range effort saved.

After the break Shepshed came back into the game and drew level with two goals despite the best efforts of Havard.

Substitute Keanu Cooper regained the lead for Fields after making a break from inside his own half and riding three tackles before playinh through Molyneux to fire home.

Cooper turned from play-maker to goalscorer to complete the victory.

Westfields visit Dunkirk at Nottingham on Saturday and then on Monday they entertain newly-promoted Wolverhampton Sporting Community at allpay.park, kick-off 3pm.
