WESTFIELDS lifted their first silverware of 2018/19 as they got their pre-season campaign underway with a 3-0 victory over Pegasus Juniors in the Dennis Hartland Memorial Trophy.

Fields, who have been in training for several weeks, took a 30th minute lead when Ben Hayes crossed onto the boot of Ben Miller to fire his side ahead.

The visitors were two goals ahead just after the hour through Keanu Cooper before Mark Magree was rewarded for his hard work by slotting home the third six minutes from time.

"We have done some very good training sessions and the lads went into the first pre-season game hungry to be back playing football," said manager Andy Bevan.

"It was nice to get the win as Pegasus have improved massively from the start of last season which is a credit to them. I was pleased with how we moved the ball and kept our tempo high."

Westfields will travel to English Bricknor on Wednesday night and will be facing some familiar faces at Cinderford Town on Saturday including striker Richard Greaves and goalkeeper Alex Harris.

Bevan's side host their first friendly against Tuffley Rovers on Tuesday (7.45pm).

"Cinderford will be pushing for the Southern League Division One this season so it is a chance to test ourselves," added Bevan.

"We have three games in a week so it will be a good test after pre-season and so the boys can get match fit."

Westfields have also signed former Lads Club youngster Lewis Fletcher following a trial at the club.
