BISHOP of Hereford Bluecoat School pupil Mandras Kyeremeh clinched two golds when he represented Hereford & Worcester Schools at this year’s Inter County Schools’ Track & Field Athletics “Mason Trophy” taking place at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.
Athletes were selected to represent their county, based on their performances in recent competitions.
They were competing against nine other counties including: Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Shropshire.
The Hereford and Worcester team finished a creditable fifth with 339 points, with West Midlands being overall winners (392 points).
Kyeremeh was part of the Junior Boys (school years 8 & 9) who placed first amongst the 10 counties.
The Bishop of Hereford Bluecoat School pupil won gold in the 100 metres and then was part of the successful the Junior Boys 4 x 100m Relay, making it sprint domination for Hereford & Worcester schools.
Meanwhile Ollie Smith (Fairfield HS, Hereford) leapt to silver in the High Jump.
Lily Fennessy from St Mary’s HS in Hereford, place fourth in the Javelin & sixth in the Discus while Charlotte Colbert (also St Mary’s) took fourth place in the Hammer.
