BURGHILL Valley Golf Club clinched victory in the Seniors Winter Round Robin for the first time in 19 years.
The four club tournament saw Ross-on-Wye, Ludlow, Leominster and Burghill compete in home and away matches throughout the winter.
With Burghill winning both matches against Ross-on-Wye and Ludlow it was a two horse race to take the title.
The first match between the two clubs at Leominster was halved at 4-4 meaning that the winner of the final tie at Burghill would take the crown with the hosts only needing a draw.
Burghill found themselves 5-3 behind half way around the final round of golf but in a nailbiting finish managed to pull the score back to 4-4 and won the trophy.
After winning the first event in 1999 Burghill hadn't won it since with Leominster winning on more than one occasion and Ross-on-Wye the reigning champions going into this year.
The captains of each of the four sides gathered for a presentation evening and meal at Burghill Valley GC recently when the trophy was awarded. The club's will play a host of friendlies throughout their summer seasons alongside other competitions.
