LEDBURY took a step closer to Twickenham thanks to a 19-14 win at Corby-based Stewarts & Lloyds in the semi-finals of the Midlands Senior Vase.

The Herefordshire side will now travel south of Peterborough to Oundle in the final on March 28.

Oundle are flying at the top of National 3 East (South) and have won 15 of their 17 league games.

If Ledbury do bypass them, they will be in the national semi-finals.

The winners of those two games will then square off in the grand final at Twickenham on May 7.

Ledbury are back in league action this Saturday against Old Leamingtonians in National 3 West (South).

Greyhound, meanwhile, beat Ludlow 2nds 43-22 in a friendly match last Saturday.

Ed Howarth helped himself to a hat-trick, with the other tries coming from George West and Ali Paton.

All of the other points came from the boot of Zac Thompson.

The following day, Greyhound Ladies drew 31-31 against Abergavenny in a CM Artificial Grass Cross Border Challenge.

Captain Carly Phillips pulled Greyhound level after the away side took an early lead before Georgia Price went over the line.

A break by Carly Whent adding more points to the scoreline, with scrum half Emma Hamby rounding off the first half with another try.

Conversions from Gracia de Garnica saw Greyhound go into the break 24-14 ahead.

But Abergavenny were stronger in defence in the second half, with Greyhound's points coming from a Whent try and a Laura Jenkins conversion.

Greyhound, meanwhile, will be hosting a contact rugby session for under-13 and under-15 girls from 1.30pm to 3.30pm this Sunday.
