HEREFORD FC manager Pete Beadle says his team can still play better despite them thrashing Continental Star 6-0 on Tuesday night.

A Pablo Haysham hat-trick and further goals from John Mills, Joel Edwards and Adam Page completed the rout, but the Bulls could easily have had double figures if it was not for some inspired goalkeeping by Continental goalkeeper Jordan Ellis.

The win puts Hereford back to the top of the Midland Football League Premier Division.

The Bulls are two points clear of Heanor, but the Derbyshire outfit have played one game fewer.

"You can only beat what is put in front of you, but in games like that, you really want them to nail it home and be convincing," said Beadle.

"But these boys are still young and they probably don't know how to put it home.

"We can only keep doing what we are doing, but our standards dropped a little bit for me, but sometimes you have to take into account who we are playing.

"We got six, we're happy with that, but it could have been more.

"May be I'm being too critical, but sometimes when you fall into a style of play and we lower our tempo and we were against one of the top teams we're going to find it hard work.

"Sometimes it's difficult to step up again after you take your foot off the peddle, but I want us to play with the standards we have set ourselves."

Mills grabbed his 23rd league goal of a remarkable season in the eighth minute after rounding Ellis before Haysham smashed the ball home 16 minutes later.

The Bulls number 10 then nodded home Mills' cross on the stroke of half-time to make it 3-0 before Joel Edwards got in the act by heading in Page's corner in the second half.

The win was sealed in the fifth minute of stoppage time thanks to Page.

Hereford went into the game on the back of a 4-0 thumping of Brocton on Saturday.

Mills scored two penalties – both awarded for handball – with Carlos Moreira and Page also being on target.

Brocton were reduced to 10 men when Dan Lomas was dismissed for an alleged high foot on Ryan Green.
