Pegasus Juniors 1 Carterton 2 A LACK-lustre Sport Italia Hellenic League Premier Division display saw Pegasus slip to another home defeat.

But the city side had only themselves to blame after some wasteful finishing prevented them from building up a substantial lead in the first half-hour.

As it was, only Cory Hyde forced goalkeeper Mick Delaney into a save and it was Carterton who could have led at the break with Gary Cornwell's shot coming back off the bar and Bryan Kirkham making a fine save from Johnny Andrews from the rebound.

After the break, Cornwell was involved in the opening goal, receiving a cross from Wayne Moscrop and slipping the ball through to Matt Duredin to score from close range.

Pegasus were back on level terms within three minutes, however, when Delaney failed to clear on the left-side of his area.

Anthony Robbins won the ball from him and curled a shot into the empty net from a tight angle.

But Carterton maintained the pressure and, after hitting an upright, gained a corner on the right that was headed home by the unmarked Dan Warner.
