Rocester 0 Westfields 1 WESTFIELDS' 220-mile round trip to North Staffordshire had a happy outcome as the city side ended a difficult week on a high note by completing their second Midland Alliance double of the season.

After fire destroyed their stand the previous weekend, the city side boosted their fortunes on the pitch by building on their 3-0 win in the first clash between the sides at allpay.park earlier in the season to move comfortably into mid table.

Chris Jefferson saw an early lob saved and then Mark Davis' header was cleared by goalkeeper Matt Harris as Westfields twice went close in the early stages.

At the other end, Tom Sparey produced a couple of excellent tackles to keep Rocester at bay.

Harris pulled off a fine double save to thwart Davis at the start of the second period before Westfields' pressure paid off in the 72nd minute.

Man-of-the-match Matt Morris raced in to meet a Jamie Edwards corner and powered the ball home at the near post.

With the wind behind them, Rocester pushed forward in a bid to pull back the deficit but found Westfields keeper Jon Pugh in top form.

Pugh saved well at the feet of Nick Ward and then caught well under pressure as Rocester forced five corners in the closing stages to confirm Westfields' fine win.
