Boldmere St Michael's 3 Westfields 1 FORMER Hereford United striker Jimmy Quiggin came off the bench to inspire the home team to victory after Westfields had recovered from conceding an early goal to equalise in the early stages of the second half.

The home team caught Westfields cold from the kick off, striker Mikel Bykley chasing a ball played over their defence and beating keeper Jon Pugh to score within 90 seconds.

With the boost of the early goal, added to the award of the Midland Football Alliance "team of the month" for February before match, the home team might have expected Westfields to roll over.

To their credit, the visitors eased their way back into the game and enjoyed the better of the next hour, but found it difficult to breakdown a well-organised defence. Tom Harding and Scott Jackson were both just off target with their best first half chances.

Jamie Edwards curled a corner kick past the keeper on the hour to put the city side level.

But the introduction of Quiggin after this setback for the home side, altered the course of the game. He added more life to their attacks allowing Ross Breeze to grab two goals to seal the victory.

On 70 minutes he stabbed a loose ball home after the Westfields defence failed to clear a free kick, and then hammered home the third at the far post from a Quiggin cross.
