WELLINGTON were left to rue a string of missed second half chances as they came away from their mid-table West Midlands (Regional) Premier division encounter against Wolverhampton Casuals with a goalless draw.
Chances were few and far between in the first half with Wellington’s defence standing firm to the home side’s advances.
But the tide turned in the second with Wellington soon finding themselves in the ascendancy.
Steve Brotherwood, on as a first half substitute for the injured Aaron Morgan, was guilty of squandering the first of a hat full of chances for the visitors that included a wasted opportunity to take the lead from the penalty spot just after the hour mark.
Jamie Yau struck the underside of the crossbar from six yards out, but could only watch on as the ball bounced off the line before being cleared to safety as Wellington continued to press.
Brotherwood then pulled the ball back to Josh Hunt who fired wide before Paul Jones sent two efforts fizzing past the posts when well placed.
As Wellington did everything but score, and as the game neared it’s conclusion, Brotherwood sent a header straight at the Casuals goalkeeper.
The result sees Wellington remain in 10th place and rthey travel to 13th placed Smethwick Rangers this Saturday.
