WELLINGTON was the 1,733rd football ground that Paul Cowburn ticked off his list.
The groundhopper fromBolton travelled to the village after frantically searching for a game that was on in the West Midlands.
He was going to to watch AFC Ludlow’s game against Penncroft with his friend Noel Trussler. who was staying in Malvern.
But after hearing it was postponed, the pair found themselves in Herefordshire instead.
“I got a phone call at 12.15pm while I was about 10 miles north of Ludlow to say it would be postponed," said Cowburn.
“I rung up here and was told, subject to the match referee passing it, it was on.”
Cowburn has now watched 81 games this season and has been to the county before.
H e said: “I have done Hereford United and Pegasus.
“But I see that Bromyard, Bartestree and Lads Club play in the West Midlands League, so I’ll have to get back down here again.”
