ADVISOR Andrew Green has claimed his suggestions to ‘restructure’ Hereford United’s finances were dismissed by the club’s owner Tommy Agombar - six weeks ago.
Green attended the Conference board meeting at the Celtic Manor in Newport with then United chairman David Keyte.
“I was aware the club had problems and was prepared to assist in suggesting some sort of restructuring which I think everyone agrees should be done,” said Green, an advisor to Agmobar.
“If my suggestions had been taken on board, I would have been more than happy to assist.
“However, they were not, resulting in Mr Agombar seeking advice elsewhere.
“However, the result is similar to my original suggestion just six weeks further on.”
Green said his advice to Agombar was based on 30 years' experience.
Green says he was asked to act as the club’s accountant but has not taken up the role.
“I attended the Conference meeting to help smooth a difficult situation at the time,” he recalled.
“The advice I gave was based on the limited information that was to hand or been given by David Keyte.
“However, Mr Agombar is his own man and decided to go with his instinct.
“Six weeks on, the situation has to be dealt with the same way as I suggested.”
Green said he felt the Conference had accepted his and Keyte’s proposals which, he claims, were verified by Agombar at the time.
“As is well documented, matters did not proceed as we both envisaged,” said Green.
