TRIBUTES have been paid to well-respected cricket umpire Clive Terry, who died suddenly last Tuesday at the age of 76.

Marches League administrator Derrick Jones said Clive had a ‘great affection for cricket’ and was ‘hugely respected on and off the field’.

Clive, who lived in Ledbury Road, had also been a talented footballer, winning an England under-17 cap as well as playing for Hereford United reserves, Lads Club, Kington and Ebbw Vale.

"He lived for his cricket and football," said wife Ruth.

His funeral service will take place today (Thursday) at Holmer Church at 2.15pm.

Meanwhile, Herefordshire Cricket’s Ed Price will be speaking to representatives at the Marches League’s all-clubs meeting next Monday (April 22).

Clubs will be given handbooks, result sheets and match balls at the meeting which takes place at the railway club in Barton Yard from 7.30pm.
