Stoke Old Boys 3 pts Greyhound 3 pts.

A PENALTY in front of the post four minutes from time ended Greyhound’s perfect record and means that they will almost certainly have to settle for runners-up spot in Midlands Five West (South).

A drop-goal by Dave Bromage at the end of the first period missed by inches as there were no points on the board for either side at the break. Bromage, however, made amends with a successful penalty five minutes into the second period.

The Coventry-based hosts kept up the pressure but Greyhound responded and dominated the final 20 minutes only for a controversial penalty to tie the scores.

Stoke lead the table by three points from unbeaten Greyhound, who had five points deducted earlier in the season for fielding an ineligible player. The city side entertain Trinity Guild in their final match at the Racecourse on Saturday, kick-off 3pm, with all welcome to attend to help them celebrate promotion.
