WELLINGTON recorded a hard-earned 1-0 win in difficult conditions at Kington Town, and with three of the top four either not playing or dropping points, now head the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division for the first time this season.

The visitors turned their slight advantage into a lead minutes before the break when Mick Mullinger scored from close-range after Kenny Styles had squared the ball back across goal.

Kington only created one clear-cut chance in the first half, Jamie Williams missing after being put through by Martin Powell, and still struggled to break down the visitors' defence in the second in spite of controlling play.

The home side missed a golden opportunity of salvaging a point when Stuart Turpin got down well to save Joe Maygothling's penalty, after seven minutes of added time.

Westfields looked comfortable winners at allpay.park when they led local rivals Pegasus by two goals with 15 minutes to play, but in the end had to settle for a point as the visitors struck to draw 2-2.

Mark Mortlock put the ball just wide after lobbing the keeper on the half-hour mark and then hit the bar with a sweet volley minutes later as the home side shaded a goalless first 45 minutes.

Westfields started the second half in explosive style, taking the lead before Pegasus had touched the ball. They worked the ball through with a neat movement for Sam Clarke to fire home from 20 yards, via a post.

Minutes later, the contest looked over when Wes Owen ran on to a Johnny Williams through-ball and placed it past the keeper. Rod Haslam had a chance to extend the lead, striking a post with a header from an Ian Morris corner.

With the gloom gathering and the wind getting up, Pegasus rallied to salvage a point. Mario Zima reduced the deficit with a header and Shaun Francis fired in the equaliser from a left-wing cross.

Colwall maintained their recent impressive run when they knocked Woofferton off the top of the table by denting their 100% home record with a 3-1 away win.

Colwall dominated the early stages and took the lead from the penalty spot after Woofferton were penalised for pushing. James Dean netted.

With the home side getting into their stride after a sluggish start, Colwall produced a vital blow when Jamie Welch tucked away the rebound after Tim Rutherford had taken advantage of slack marking to round the keeper and hit a post.

With 10 minutes to go, Darren Tomkins scored Colwall's third goal during a scramble. Richard Wozencroft netted a consolation goal in the closing stages after keeper Luke Ledbury had failed to hold the ball.

Ewyas Harold bounced back from their defeat at Sutton to earn three points with a convincing 3-0 home win over Leominster Town.

They soon led by two goals and kept the pressure on, with Leominster keeper Jon Warren preventing a bigger winning margin with a string of fine saves.

Harold struck early, Ryan Tabb applying the finishing touches to round off an incisive movement involving Robbie Gore and Ben Corner in the third minute.

The same two players were involved in the build-up to the second goal minutes later. This time Warren saved Matt Pitt's initial effort but Kevin Michael stepped in to double the tally.

Leominster's best chance fell to Jason Evans, but he was wide of the target. Pitt struck the woodwork before John Ferneyhough latched on to Mark Avery's pass and rounded Warren to complete the scoring.

Due to a breakdown in communication, the referee arrived late for the Lads Club and Ledbury Town Reserves fixture on Widemarsh Common. The home team went down 4-3 in the reduced 70-minute match.

Ledbury started well and opened up a two-goal lead after half an hour but John Buchanan pulled a goal back with a header before the break.

The game looked over when Town stretched their lead to 4-1 within 10 minutes of the restart.

But Lads Club changed their formation and fought their way back into the game with two more headers. Chris Gundy rose well at the far post for the first and then Ben Arnold met a Mike Olive cross two minutes from time. The other game between Weston and Fownhope ended in a 3-3 draw to give the bottom side a welcome point.
