HEREFORD United have two big games in four days to look forward to at Edgar Street with a visit from League 2 leaders Walsall on Saturday swiftly followed by an FA Cup first round replay against Shrewsbury Town next Tuesday.

Against Walsall, United will be expecting to welcome back loan players John Eustace and Neil MacKenzie who were both ineligible for last weekend's original cup clash at Shrewsbury which ended in a goalless draw.

And the pair will be welcome additions to the squad against the Saddlers who boast an unbeaten record over their last six league games at Edgar Street in a run stretching back to 1978.

During that spell, United were, however, victorious in an FA Cup third round clash in 1990 which brought them a money-spinning fourth round tie with Manchester United.

This season, Walsall have been renowned for the tightness of their defence and have yet to concede a goal at their Bescot headquarters.

On the road, they have let in just eight goals in eight games and so the Bulls will be hoping that marksman Stuart Fleetwood will have recovered from the throat infection, which hospitalised him last Friday night, in time to play some part. Worries that the ex-Cardiff City man had succumbed to glandular fever have been eased after tests came back negative.

Fleetwood, of course, was called up for the Wales under-21 squad earlier this season and another Bulls man, defender Trent McClenahan, has now received a boost to his international aspirations after being selected to train with the Australia squad.

The full-back was one of five UK-based players, all in contention for the Australia under-23 side, chosen to join up with the Socceroos who were in England for a match against Ghana at Queen's Park Rangers' Loftus Road ground on Tuesday evening which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Simon Travis and Martyn Giles have resumed training after recovering from recent injuries and are in contention for places in the side on Saturday.

On Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm, United and Shrewsbury will battle it out for the right to entertain League 1 promotion-chasers Port Vale in the FA Cup second round on December 2.

A large crowd is expected for the clash which is all-ticket for Shrewsbury fans but with Bulls' supporters paying on the night.

United are again likely to be without Eustace and MacKenzie with Andy Ferrell and Richard Rose, who stood in at Gay Meadow, heading the queue to deputise.
