A PROBLEM with signalling equipment on the railway line near Leominster caused some delays for motorists trying to drive over the town's level crossing on Sunday.
The fault with the equipment caused the barriers at the level crossing to remain down. British Transport Police attended.
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “We have the safest railway in Europe and getting people home safe every day is a key priority for us.
“The barriers at Leominster level crossing remained down for safety reasons on Sunday evening after a fault with the signalling equipment between Woofferton and Leominster was identified.
“Trains were cautioned over the crossing whilst our engineers worked hard to fix the problem and the level crossing reopened just after 9pm. British Transport Police attended the crossing when it was closed to give users a safe alternative route. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
