AS your votes for Pub of the Year keep coming in, one of the watering holes in the running for the prize is the Bell Inn.

Our Pub of the Year contest sees readers voting for their favourite establishment in the city, with the winning landlord receiving a trophy and being invited to parliament by Worcester’s MP.

The Bell Inn in St John’s had a number of supporters in the 2018 competition, ending up in third place. And already nominations have been coming in for the St John’s establishment.

In the year since the last competition there have been a number of changes with former manager Laura McFee moving on and new landlady, Angela Freeman, taking over last February.

The landlady said: “When we came here we wanted to keep things similar to how it was, as it worked so well. We put up pictures of old St John’s, and transformed the beer garden, which some people didn’t even realise we had. It is busy, particularly on Friday nights, and we still have skittles and live music. We have also been making it more family friendly. If we won the competition it would be amazing, especially as I only came in February.”

To vote send the newspaper slip to Pub of the Year, Worcester News, Hylton Road, WR2 5JX. We’re now allowing our readers to vote for their favourite pub by email too. All they need to do is email deb.walton@localiq.co.uk with the subject ‘WORCESTER NEWS PUB OF THE YEAR: NAME OF THE PUB THEY ARE VOTING FOR’ and then, in the body of the email, explain why they’ve chosen this pub. The deadline for email votes is the same as for the voting slips in the paper: Friday, December 20.
