A MAJOR Dudley road is currently closed due to a collision between a van and a man on a mobility scooter.
Pedmore Road is currently closed in a northbound direction towards Dudley, just north of the junction with Peartree Lane.
Medics were called to the scene on Pedmore Road just after 1pm this afternoon (October 23) following reports of a collision between a van and a man on a mobility scooter.
The man, aged in his 70s, was trapped under the front of the van and fire crews worked to free him.
A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said the man suffered serious, but not life threatening, injuries and that he received advanced trauma care at the scene and was taken to Russells Hall Hospital for further treatment.
A spokesperson from West Midlands Police said: "Pedmore Road was closed just after 1pm today after a collision between a van and a man on a mobility scooter.
"The man, believed to be in his 70s, was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life threatening or life changing.
"The driver of the van is assisting officers with enquiries."
One ambulance, a paramedic officer and a Critical Care Car also attended the scene.
Traffic is being diverted via Peartree Lane or Pedmore Road in a southbound direction.
Drivers are advised to use alternative routes.
