THERE was a proposal of a different kind with one Hereford man popping the question in an escape room.
Chris Butts, 29, wanted to ask his partner, Shanterlena Knowles, 27, to marry him but wanted to catch her off guard.
And what better way than during a game where participants have to solve clues to be released from a locked room.
Chris got in touch with Escape Live in Birmingham who agreed to help him propose during their Time Machine game, with the big moment saved until the very end of their quest.
Chris said: “It transpired that the envelope containing the very last clue in the very last room of the challenge would have a note asking Shanterlena if she would marry me.
“She saw the note and thought staff were playing a joke on her, then she saw me down on one knee and after continually asking if this was a joke, realised it was for real.
“I asked the question and she said yes but after that she was speechless.
“I am delighted.”
The couple, who live in Hereford, hope to set a date for their wedding soon.
