A SHOPLIFTER assaulted a member of staff as she confronted him as he left a shop in Hereford.
A man went to Hobbycraft in Holmer Road on Monday, June 13 at around 6pm and picked up two toys from the shelf and then walked to the back of the store.
Police said he was then see zipping up his bag and he was no longer carrying the toys.
He then asked a member of staff where other items were.
As the man began to leave the store he was challenged and staff asked if they could check his bag.
The man then assaulted a staff member, grabbing hold of her arm and pushing her out of the store. He then ran from the store across the retail park.
A stock check revealed that two children's toys were missing.
The man is described as white, around 6ft tall and of a medium build.
He had very short blond hair and is thought to be in his mid 30s. He spoke English with an Eastern European accent.
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or recognises the description of the man.
